VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – A Virginia Beach dental office expressed their goofy side by participating in the Red Nose Day, a program that provides funds and resources to children in need across the world.
This year’s Red Nose Day, which was held May 26, and supporting campaigns raised more than $31.5 million. Small businesses are encouraged to seek donations for the annual Red Nose Day throughout the month of May. The Red Nose Day two-hour TV special and fundraiser included appearances by actors, comedians, and worldwide philanthropists.
“Being a family dental office, we always jump on the opportunity to support families and children who are in need,” Dr. Anderson said. “I started my own practice because I love working with patients. I get to see people improve their oral health and overall health, so it’s important to me to give back to those in my community and around the world.”
Red Nose Day has been held in England since 1988, and it was brought to America in 2015. The Red Nose Day Fund distributes all funds to children’s programs that promote children’s safety, education and health. In addition to providing funds, donors are encouraged to wear a red nose to show their support for the program.
About half of the money raised for Red Nose Day will be distributed in the United States, while the other portion goes to organizations in Asia, Latin America and Africa. In 2015, the campaign raised more than $23 million. About $7.8 million of that total went to fighting hunger, while another $1 million went to illness prevention and disease control.
“These funds go to help children in all 50 states, so by participating in Red Nose Day, we’re helping children in our great state and our backyard,” Dr. Anderson said.

Dr. Anderson offers general dentistry, restorative dentistry, nonsurgical gum disease treatment, cosmetic dentistry, dental implant restorations, TMJ relief, dental anxiety relief and crown and bridge placement.
Dr. Anderson and his staff use sophisticated technology to provide patients with crowns in a day. Using special CAD/CAM technology, Dr. Anderson can take a digital impression, design the crown and fabricate it in his office during one visit. There is no waiting around for the lab to create a crown, and patients don’t have to spend weeks wearing a temporary crown.
Dr. Anderson, originally from the Virginia Beach neighborhood Lake Smith Terrace, has been practicing dentistry since 1988. He graduated from Bayside High School at the top of his class and was also active in extracurricular activities, including the Atlantic Ecology Club. He later earned undergraduate degrees in chemistry and business from the University of Richmond. He obtained his dental degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry in Richmond in 1986, but was in a near-fatal vehicle accident that left him unable to practice for two full years.
